Michigan has been on my bucket list for a long time! We have a good friend who is from Michigan so when he offered for us to rent a house with them and our families, it was an instant YES! It was such an amazing trip! Staying with them was like having our own personal tour guides on site!
Where we stayed was about 8 – 10 hours from our house. We decided to stay a night in Bay City, a little Charming Michigan town on the way. We stayed at the Double Tree there. It was beautiful, clean, and right on the river. We were greeted with warm cookies when we checked in! The kids were amazed by this!

We ventured out walking in the historic city to grab dinner. We decided on Gordon’s. Their pizza was AMAZING!!! On our way back to the hotel after dinner we walked along the River front.
It was such a beautiful night. In the open space park they had a movie screen set up and everyone was gathering on blankets and chairs. We decided to grab our bag chairs out of the car and check it out. I am so glad we did. Such an impromptu fun moment for us. They were showing Grease! My kids loved the movie! Such a classic!!
We ventured out for breakfast the next morning! We went to Maggie’s Omelette Shoppe – all fresh and local food!
It was SOOOO Good!
The kids swam for a bit in the morning, in the indoor pool before we checked out to head to the cabin.
