The Club Mom is proud to be partnering with The Cure Starts Now & Graeters again this year for the Cones for the Cure Campaign. Started in 2007, as tribute to Elena Desserich. Elena was a beautiful, artistic, 6 year old resident of my hometown, Wyoming, Ohio, who lost her battle to pediatric brain cancer.
Graeter’s will once again offer one of its most iconic seasonal flavors, Elena’s Blueberry Pie – a special flavor that was created by a Cincinnati family in support of The Cure Starts Now – throughout September. “We created this special ice cream flavor more than a decade ago and have been committed to the cause ever since. We’re eager to raise even more funds for such an important cause and continue to support The Cure Starts Now.”
Elena’s Blueberry Pie Ice Cream was named after Elena as part of a wish donated by Graeter’s to The Cure Starts Now’s annual Once in a Lifetime Gala & Auction. The Groteke family won the wish and invented the flavor in 2008. Elena’s heart painting is the inspiration for the pint design. A portion of the proceeds from every scoop benefits The Cure Starts Now.
From September 5th through September 15th, guests in the Graeter’s retail scoop shops will have the opportunity to make a donation directly to The Cure Starts Now.

Many experts believe that the lessons we learn from fighting pediatric brain cancer may in fact provide us the critical first step in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult. Since 2007, The Cure Starts Now has funded $12.5 million in DIPG/Home-run Cure cancer research at institutions.
Graeter’s will also offer a coupon booklet with up to $25 in savings for every donation of $5 or more while supplies last.
