Ronnie Grandison Basketball Academy is a ?tness and sports center providing professional training in the areas of basketball, volleyball, and ?tness. The programs are designed by professionals that have the proper knowledge base and experience. Ronnie is a former NBA basketball player who played for five teams: Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks.
Austin started this program in the fall with 3 of his Loveland Buddies. None of them have played before. All the parents are super impressed with how much our boys have learned and improved! So much… that we decided to sign them up for the second session.
At the end of the Fall Session, Ronnie presented each child with a sweat band and trophy and a High Five! I can’t tell you how much we have enjoyed watching Austin practice and play in the games. He loves it!!
Although many volunteer coaches mean well, few have professional experience to draw on. Having this firsthand know-how provides a definite advantage in teaching sound basketball fundamentals to players. If your child doesn’t have a good foundation on which to build, they may begin to develop poor form and habits which can be difficult to break, which ultimately can lead to a frustrated young player.
Practice consists of several drills. They are even teaching them to dribble with their non dominant hand behind their backs, which is a great skill to develop!
WHO is the league for? Kindergarten and 1st graders. The league is open to boys and girls.
HOW do I sign my child up? Two steps:
- Your child must be enrolled in a minimum of one RGBasketball class at Kids First. The classes are used as a “practice” for the games. They offer classes five days a week.
- After enrolling in a RGB class, you can then register for the youth rec league. The league costs $63 for the session in addition to the class fee($33 if you already own a jersey).
WHEN does it begin?
Session 2 begins January 10th
(Dates: January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7 and 14)
HOW many classes/practices and games will my child have? Your child must be enrolled in a RGB Class in order to participate, so signing up for one class a week will give you 8 practices and 6 games over the two month period. Games are played on Sunday between 11:30am-2:30pm.
